The Up a Tree Foundation invites you to create a different kind of space together — a theatre laboratory where we will use the language of theatre as a compass to explore…

Who and what is hiding within us?

Within others?

And in the world beyond?

What will we do together — and how?

• We will be ourselves: In a calm and supportive environment, without pressure or expectations — a space to experiment, connect and communicate.

• We will learn through theatre: Our practical work will focus on the fundamental expressive tools of theatre — acting, stage movement and working with text.

• We will learn from different artists: We will meet guest artists from the world of music, film, dance, mime, playwriting, psychology and more. They will lead practical workshops.

• We will find inspiration: We will attend cultural events together and then create our own forum for sharing impressions and inspiration, for debates, disagreements and ideas.

• We will explore: Each participant will keep their own personal “researcher’s journal” — a space for thoughts, questions and observations, images and ideas, drawings or simply doodles.

• We will create: At the end of the laboratory, we will come together to create our own original theatre project!

For parents: During these formative and transitional years, when young people navigate their own path, they will have the opportunity to dedicate time to connecting with themselves and others through the language of theatre.

Learning to speak this language will offer them direction and tools — a kind of compass for a journey towards discovering themselves and developing empathy for themselves and for others.
