DANIIL
The play “Daniel” is a sinister, but funny stage attraction, whose story only at first glance revolves around the familiar story of the artist seeking peace among intrusive demons - namely, his own characters.
Built on fragments of texts by Daniil Kharms, the play is just as fragmented, roughly and crudely sewn together from pieces without beginnings or ends. Having not survived the cruel times of Stalin, Kharms writes stories imbued with absurd, funny, and monstrous people and events. In our stage story, this context takes the play beyond the simple plot and makes unflattering comparisons with the present.
The performance is a co-production between Up A Tree Puppet Studio and the independent theater and art space "I AM Studio".
The project was implemented with the financial support of the National Culture Fund
